Mary Ciammetti | Founder & President

Mary Ciammetti is the Founder of The CTC Wellness Foundation and Don’t Stall, Just Call, an alcohol poisoning education and prevention mission for students and families. In 2015, Mary experienced great tragedy—the death of her beloved youngest child, Christian, a 20-year-old thriving college student. He died from complications of alcohol poisoning due to binge drinking. Through grief, her purpose became clear: Don’t Stall, Just Call was created along with the nonprofit The CTC Wellness Foundation, a 501c(3) that focuses on alcohol education, anxiety reduction strategies and wellness opportunities for students to incorporate healthy lifestyle choices on campus and beyond. Under Mary’s vision, The CTC Wellness Foundation has established an annual scholarship for students at Temple University.

Mary has presented her powerful Don’t Stall, Just Call mission to over 15,000 people in the last 2½ years in hopes of saving lives. The goal of the DSJC team is to educate. Through an honest, thoughtful and powerful presentation, students and families learn the true dangers of our all-too accepted binge -drinking culture along with the potentially deadly symptoms of alcohol poisoning, thus preventing senseless deaths. The goal is that no other college student will ever be able to say “I didn’t know” what to do in the event of someone showing alcohol poisoning symptoms. The DSJC program defines binge drinking and explains alcohol poisoning symptoms, bystander intervention, refusal techniques and Medical Amnesty policies. Through notes, emails and texts from people who have witnessed our presentations, we have proof that our mission is working and saving lives. Now they will know…

Future goals include amending the PA Medical Amnesty Policy for all underage students, creating a consistent amnesty policy for all youth in the state, as well as introducing alcohol education in the PA State middle school education curriculum. Mary has partnered with the PA Attorney General’s Office as a presenter at Round Table Discussions for PA Higher Education during 2018. She is working diligently with several State Representatives in hopes of creating a safer culture for all young people in PA and beyond.

Mary graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University with a B.S. in Business and Finance. Ciammetti left her full-time position AP/AR Specialist at League Collegiate Outfitters in 2017 to focus on The CTC Wellness Foundation and Don’t Stall, Just Call. She had been a League employee for 14 years.

About

Young people think they are invincible. They don’t realize that alcohol impairs judgment and subsequently, poor choices and high risks can become common. Misjudgment tragically took the life of my son Chris in the summer of 2015.

Six months after Chris’s passing, Mary Ciammetti was introduced to me by a close friend. I was drawn to the Foundation created in her son Christian’s memory Don’t Stall, Just Call when I understood it’s mission to educate young people and their families about alcohol abuse and the destruction it does to lives. Losing a child is a desolate journey that no parent should ever have to travel. One poor choice can end a life and impact the lives of loved ones forever. Don’t Stall, Just Call saves lives.

Currently, I work as a Finance Coordinator in the Development Office at an Archdiocesan High School in Philadelphia. I am a graduate of LaSalle University with a BS in Finance.
