One mother’s tragedy has been a blessing for others.
Whitemarsh native Mary Ciammetti lost her son Christian, a Temple University student, to alcohol poisoning, in January 2015, the Times Herald relates.
But Ciammetti has turned her suffering into positive energy, raising awareness for the signs and symptoms of the issue in the community and at universities, the report states.
“Don’t Stall, Just Call,” she says of any potential alcohol poisoning situation.
Flyers, billboards, and changes to campus policy are just a few of the issues she is reportedly working on.
She is also working to get amnesty for underage drinkers who call to report a dire situation, according to the report, in the hopes that Christian’s death will save other lives.
Ciammetti has already given speeches at Temple and the University of Delaware, Philly.com reports. She also has speaking engagements set up for 2016 at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor and St. Joseph’s University.
